Hello everyone...I hope you are all doing great! I've been busy all day working on the last few costume headpieces, that I am making for a shoot. I figured I would show you all some behind the scenes activity on making those. The first place I go after sketching out a headpiece design, is the trim shops in downtown LA's fashion district. Nyc has a garment district, which is quite similar and I imagine most big cities have an area like this, but for those of you in a small town, you may have to search online for good trims and beading. The trim shops in La are overwhelming, way too many great things to look at! Sometimes I am almost stumped, because there are so many directions you can take a piece in...which is why sketching it out and having a plan BEFORE you shop for materials, is key!
***Note: Items that are important for making headpieces: Scissors, Jewelry tools, thin rubber thread (and thread in general) and hot glue gun with glue sticks.
I'm working on a few more pieces and then I might stop and call it quite. I have run out of funds to make them. I sold a few pieces of clothing from my closet at the local vintage shop and that allowed me to have some money to buy more supplies. But you can only make so much without the money, so after a few more pieces, I think I am done. ;)
Hey and I got few prints made for my home, and framed them. Michaels Art Supplies had these simple brown wood frames on sale for $6.99, so I bought a few. They aren't amazing frames like all of my antique ones, but it'll do for now. :)
I hope you are all having a lovely beginning of the week! I woke up today and did Ballet Beautiful...and boy did it work my legs! If you have not yet gone to the Ballet Beautiful site and bought a dvd or signed up for classes, you must! It's one of the best things I have done for myself in years!
xoxo,
Shae
